Tower Family Foundation Announces Board of Directors Appointments
Bud Noel and Patrick Murphy Join Board of Directors
(Watertown, SD) – The Tower Family Foundation today announced the newest appointment’s to the non-profit organization’s leadership team. Bud Noel, Senior Vice President of Operations for the U.S. Tower Division of American Tower in Boston, Massachusetts, and Patrick Murphy, Founder and CEO of Murphy Tower Service, LLC in Carlisle, Iowa, have been appointed to serve on the Tower Family Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Noel and Murphy join the Tower Family Foundation Board comprised of industry veterans devoted to the Foundation’s mission of providing financial support to industry workers and their families during times of immediate need.
“We are excited to add the visionary leadership of Bud and Patrick to the Tower Family Foundation’s Board of Directors,” said President Jim Tracy from Legacy Telecommunications, LLC in Gig Harbor, Washington. “Bud and Patrick will play an instrumental role in helping the foundation expand our visibility and reach in order to provide more impacted industry workers and families with financial support,” Tracy added.
“I’m honored to serve on behalf of American Tower as a member of the Board of Directors of the Tower Family Foundation to continue our collective dedication to supporting families in need,” stated American Tower’s Bud Noel.
The Tower Family Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides financial assistance and scholarships to family members of a severely injured, permanently disabled, or deceased tower worker injured or killed in an accident stemming from working at heights on communication structures or other on-the-job related activities that tower workers are involved in on a daily basis. The Tower Family Foundation was awarded a 2021 Gold Seal of Transparency from GuideStar by Candid.
Since its inception in 2014, the Tower Family Foundation has awarded $1,126,000 in donations and scholarships to eligible tower workers and their families. VRS P.C., an independent certified public accounting firm, has calculated that over 97 cents of every dollar donated to the Tower Family Foundation goes directly to eligible benefactors.

Bud Noel Bud Noel has been serving as Senior Vice President of Operations for the U.S. Tower Division of American Tower since February 2011. In this role, he leads the leasing operations, network operations, site development, and engineering organizations. Mr. Noel has more than 25 years of network deployment experience, having served in various leadership roles in the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining American Tower, he started his career at Sprint Nextel and most recently served as Vice President for LightSquared. Mr. Noel holds a degree from East Carolina University. |

Patrick Murphy Patrick Murphy founded Murphy Tower Service, LLC along with siblings Clyde Murphy and Lin (Murphy) Sheehey in 2004 after working in their father’s construction company, Murphy Construction, Inc. Pat is currently the CEO with 19 years of experience in the telecom industry, doubling as a tower climber in his first 10 years. Prior to working in telecom, Pat worked in pharmaceutical research and development for 12 years at the University of Iowa’s Pharmaceutical Service Division where he was the Quality Control Laboratory Manager, leading a group of chemists performing contract R&D for pharmaceutical companies from all over the world, including US government agencies such as National Institutes of Health (NIH) & National Cancer Institute (NCI). Pat earned his BS in 1991 and his MBA in 2001, both from the University of Iowa. Pat and his wife Jane, who also works in the family business, just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary and have three kids (two in college and one in high school). Pat likes to spend his free time with his family and also enjoys fishing, bow hunting, skiing, mountain biking and hitting the gym. |

About Tower Family Foundation
The Tower Industry Family Support Charitable Foundation has been established to help provide financial assistance to family members of a severely injured, permanently disabled, or deceased tower worker injured or killed in an accident stemming from working at heights on communication structures or other on the job related activities that tower workers are involved in on a daily basis. The intent of the donation is to provide a funding “bridge” to the affected families to help pay for immediate needs and help defray other related costs that families experience in a post-accident or fatality situation.
